Rare Asplenium Leaf From The Eocene
Stock Number  FPUAD01

Name:   Asplenium delicatula (Spleenwort)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.9" along curve

Here is a wonderful specimen of a very rare leaf. This is Asplenium delicatula (Spleenwort) from the Eocene of Utah. This is the only specimen of this leaf that we have ever seen. The long, linear leaf exhibits great detail. The serrated margins of the leaf are beautifully displayed, and the venation of the leaf is clearly defined. A short petiole is still attached to the leaf, and the rounded tip of the leaf is intact. The fossil has excellent color and contrast and is well centered on the somewhat square plate of shale. This is an outstanding example of this scarce Spleenwort.
