Striking Annularia In Concretion From Missouri
Stock Number  FPFMI19

Name:   Annularia sp.
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood Formation
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Concretion is almost 3 inches long

Here is an outstanding specimen of Annularia sp. from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. Annularia represent the leaf whorls found at the nodes of the Calamites plant. This fossil plant is extremely well preserved in a concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present so both part and counterpart are intact. The central stem of the plant is clearly defined and three distinct whorls of long, linear leaves are wonderfully displayed. The fossil has excellent color and superb contrast. This is a beautiful example of this aesthetic plant from the Coal Age.
