EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Stunning Plate Of Ash Leaves
Stock Number  FPUF03
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fraxinus sp. (Ash)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  From tip of leaf to end of branch is 6.5"

Here is a spectacular display plate of leaves from the Eocene of Utah. This is an extremely unusual occurrence of a long branch with three Ash (Fraxinus sp.) leaves still firmly attached. Ash leaves are very uncommon from this stratigraphic unit. All three of the leaves have good detail. The venation is clearly defined - under magnification, even the tertiary venation is easily seen. The dark brown color of the fossil contrasts well with the khaki-colored matrix. The plant is wonderfully centered on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale. This is a striking specimen of rare Ash leaves from the Green River Formation.
