This is a very nice fossil fern frond from the classic location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil is preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the large fern frond (well over six inches long!) is beautifully displayed on the large, natural plate of shale. There are also a few smaller ferns preserved on the the plate. This is a very cool example of a large, detailed fossil fern frond from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
