Here is a very nice fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Utah. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen, and the slightly serrrated margins are exhibited in wonderful fashion. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the squared plate of shale. This is a great example of a Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
