This is a very unusual plant fossil. It is a Lepidodendron Bark branch from the classic locality in Ottawa, Kansas. This specimen came from an old collection. This branch showcases a very distinct example of Lepidodendron bark. The textbook diamond-shaped leaf scar pattern is wonderfully intact. Each "dot" represents the point of attachment of a fallen leaf. The fossil is fully free of matrix - the back side is also quite detailed. This is a very collectible plant fossil from the Coal Age of Kansas.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
