This is a beautiful plant fossil. It is a very large, striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. The ferns are replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its stunning white color. The long fern fronds (one frond is almost SIX inches long!) have great detail preserved and contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. And there are also many ferns fossilized on the back side of the plate. This is a very large, displayable grouping of long fern fronds from the Coal Age.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
