This is a gorgeous fossil leaf. It is a fine Zelkova nervosa (Keaki Tree) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This lance-shaped leaf is complete and exhibits wonderful detail. The serrated margins of the leaf are beautifully displayed, and the venation is just spectacular. The short petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The fossil leaf has great color and contrast and is well showcased on the natural-edged plate of shale. This is a very nice example of a Zelkova leaf from the Eocene.
