This is a very nice specimen of Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore leaf, from the Eocene of Colorado. It is difficult to obtain Macginitiea leaves that are as distinct as this specimen. This leaf is complete with all five lobes present. The venation on this specimen is very strongly pronounced. A long, stout petiole is attached to the leaf. The leaf has good color and contrast and is well centered on a squared block of shale. And just to give it some character, part of the leaf is bug-eaten - it was a meal for an ancient insect!. This is a very distinct example of a fossil Sycamore leaf.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
