Very Unusual Bug-Eaten Bursera Leaf

Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.9 inches long

Here is an uncommon specimen of a bug-eaten Bursera inaequalateral leaf from the Eocene of Utah. This leaf is highly uncommon from this location. The large leaf is oval in shape and exhibits strongly serrated margins in beautiful fashion. The leaf has strong primary venation and weak, alternately arranged secondary venation. The short petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The fossil has superb dark color and contrasts nicely with the tannish matrix. And the right side of the leaf has distinct insect damage. This is a very collectible example of this rare leaf from the Green River Shale.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
