Large Allophylus Leaf with Very Nice Detail

Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado

This is a very pretty fossil leaf. It is a large Allophylus flexifolia from the Green River Formation of Colorado. This leaf has the slightly serrated margins intact, and the primary venation is easily seen. The rounded tip of the leaf is present, and the petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The brown leaf contrasts well with the light khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is very well centered on the semi-rectangular plate of shale and displays quite well. This is an excellent example of Allophylus from Douglas Pass, Colorado.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
