This is an extremely uncommon leaf from the Green River Formation. It is a fabulous Gymnocladus hesperia from Utah. This leaf is very large for the type and exhibits great detail. The slightly crenate margins of the leaf are intact and clearly defined. The extremely long petiole of the leaf is well preserved, and the weak venation of this species of plant is even evident. The leaf has outstanding, natural color and contrast and is wonderfully displayed on the large plate of shale. This is a very collectible example of a rare leaf from the Eocene of Utah.
