This is a rare split pair specimen of Cardiospermum coloradensis, a Balloon Vine, from the Eocene of Utah. Living members of Cardiospermum are herbaceous (woody) vines - the fossil species appear to represent shrubs. The distinctly lobed leaf has very good color and contrast. The venation is easily seen, and the long petiole is still attached to the base of the leaf. The fossils are well showcased on the large matrix plates. This is a very unusual split pair example of a large Balloon Vine leaf - two fossils in one.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
